Summer Curls with Ouidad 〰️

When the weather gets hot and humid, it can be really easy to hide your curls and go for a convenient style like a bun. While I love a slick-back look here and here, there’s something so beautiful about pairing pairing bright summer colors with bouncy curls.

Living in Miami, I’d like to say I’m a a pro at dealing with humidity and hair. So I’m going to break down how I use some of my personal favorite products from Ouidad for beautiful curls all Summer long.  

First: Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner

Whenever I style my hair, I always start with a leave-in conditioner that isn’t too heavy but gives my curls a nice slip. I like to think of the Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner as a primer for my hair, as it helps to seal the hair's cuticle layer to prevent frizz and promote shine. To apply, I typically section my hair in two, apply the product, then comb it through to make sure it’s evenly distributed.

Second: Advanced Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel – Stronger Hold

I am a gel girl. My curls absolutely need a strong hold, and just styling with a leave-in or cream won’t do it for me. My ideal gel gives me hold, isn’t too crunchy, but still leaves room for moisture and shine to come through. I absolutely love this gel, especially because of it’s water-like consistency which makes it easy to distribute. When applying this product, I use smaller sections throughout my hair, and comb it through. Back when my hair had a bit more heat damage, I would scrunch my curls to add more definition. Now, I let my natural curl form after combing it through. 

Last: Mongongo Oil Multi-Use Curl Treatment

One of my absolute favorite products from Ouidad is their Mongongo Oil Multi-Use Curl Treatment. I’ve been using this for years, and it’s the perfect hair oil in my opinion. It provides you additional shine without weighing your hair down and feeling greasy. Once my hair is completely dry (completely is key), I apply the oil to my hands and begin to separate any clumped curls. I also massage my roots to provide additional volume and moisture. I love that I can reapply this oil as needed, and my hair will never get greasy! I even use it on the occasional times that I straighten my hair too.
